Hello and welcome!
I'm Sarah, your Nonprofit Guide.
During my 16 years in the nonprofit sector, I have found it
to be a humble privilege to serve and work alongside 20 nonprofit organizations striving to improve lives and our communities. Mission statements and visions are just the beginning to my inspirations. It's the people and their hearts' tireless drive to resolve issues within our communities that move me the most - whether it is food insecurity, the housing crisis, racial inequity, preventing recidivism, education gaps, environmental conservation, workforce development, healthcare access, preserving cultural significance, voting,
and so much more.
I began my nonprofit career journey at the College of Charleston where I was one of the first graduates to earn an Arts Management degree when the program began. From there, I gained experience as a staff member at the Cultural Council of Georgetown County and the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce - two organizations that advocated for the important role that arts & culture play in the economic development of Georgetown County, South Carolina, my hometown.
Having spent most of my life in coastal South Carolina, the mountains were calling my name and in 2013 my husband and I moved to Asheville, North Carolina. From there, I went on to grow the fundraising and development programs at Asheville Lyric Opera and the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts. At Communication Mark, I supported a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in gaining grant funding for operations, programs, and capital projects.
In 2022, I decided to start my own consulting firm so that I could combine my passions for donor cultivation and grant writing with my desire to serve one-on-one. My grandmothers taught me the art of extending hospitality to those I serve. Sarah Collins Nonprofit Guide allows me to fuse the warmth of this wisdom with my professional skills giving me a deeper sense of personal fulfillment.
When I'm not working with clients, I can be found digging in the dirt with my husband and son on our farm in the Appalachian foothills of western North Carolina.
Sarah is a well informed and gifted grant writer. Her expertise in the realm of nonprofits and her ability to tie her knowledge into grant formulation and application makes her a significant resource to any nonprofit organization.
